The origin of Line 98 (or Color Lines) can be traced back to the 90s when it was invented by a Russian developer. It gained popularity as it was integrated into Windows 98 for PC users. Today, it is known as Line 98 Classic or Color Lines 1998.

This traditional board game is played on a grid with a 9x9 layout. The grid contains several randomly placed color balls in normal status, as well as three smaller balls that can become bigger when dragged on top of another color ball. If left untouched, the small balls grow in size and occupy the grid space. Your objective is to rearrange the color balls to create a line consisting of at least 5 balls of the same color in a row, column, or diagonal. When you successfully form a color line, all the balls in that line explode, clearing the grid. Aim to do this repeatedly to attain a higher score.

In the 90s, Line 98 (or Lines 98 Classic and Color Lines) gained widespread recognition. It became incredibly addictive among those using PCs with Windows 98. However, it also served as a relaxing pastime, making it an ideal choice for killing time in the office or while waiting for someone.
